Product overview
The TNG1028 Water-cooled Light Fastness Tester is designed to evaluate the light fastness and aging resistance of various materials by replicating natural weathering conditions. It uses a 4500W water-cooled long-arc xenon lamp to simulate sunlight, combined with controlled temperature and humidity settings. The instrument operates within a temperature range of 30℃ to 85℃ ±2℃ and a humidity range of 20% to 95% RH ±5% RH. It supports test durations from 0 to 9999 hours and 59 minutes with an accuracy of ±1 minute. The sample holder rotation speed can be adjusted between 1 to 7 rpm, and each holder can be timed independently for up to 1000 hours. The tester complies with AATCC 16 and is suitable for testing textiles, plastics, rubber, and other materials. It also supports BPT and BST temperature control ranges of 45℃ to 125℃ and 50℃ to 130℃, respectively, with a resolution of 0.1℃. The instrument is powered by 380 V, 50 Hz, and has dimensions of 1260 mm in length and 850 mm in width.
Application
A Xenon Test Chamber (Weatherometer), also named Xenon Arc Weatherometer, is a water-cooled type of xenon testing chamber. This Xenon Tester measures the light fastness and aging resistance of textiles, plastics, rubber products, or materials. Besides, the weatherometer is also called a light fastness testing machine for adopting a water-cooled long-arc-xenon lamp and racking sprays to provide both light and dark cycles and natural weather conditions. Moreover, people also name it Fadeometer as its final testing purpose is to check the color fading features.
Test Principle
Expose the specimen of the textile under specified conditions to light from a xenon arc lamp and to water spray. Meanwhile, expose the eight dyed blue wool references to light. But we also need to protect it with a sheet of window glass from water spray. Lastly, assess the light fastness by comparing the change in color of the specimen with that of the references. If the instrument is to determine the wet photosensitive textiles, no need to expose the blue wool standard. Instead, use the gray sample card to make a comparative assessment.
Features
• Light intensity set digitally, real-time monitoring, automatically adjust to meet the different standards required for testing the stability of light source.
• Blackboard Thermometer (BPT), the Standard Blackboard Thermometer (BST), Irradiance detector and samples placed in the same position, a true reflection of the sample under test conditions, the data displayed as figures, charts, curves on the large color screen, no need to stop for observation.
• A large color display and various test monitoring modes (animation, digital, graphics) operate easily and clearly.
• Sample holders can be timed independently to achieve different tests simultaneously in the same machine.
• Equipped with a Water-cooled rated 4500W long-arc-xenon- lamp truly simulates the daylight spectrum.
• Professional water circulation system, reduce operating costs.
• Industrial temperature control (cooling) system offers quickly and smoothly control.
• Ultrasonic humidifier, professional dehumidification system to ensure accurate and stable humidity conditions.
• Equipped with a self-circulation system and air filtration system, significantly reducing the environmental requirements.
• Cooled by circulating water chillers/water cooling, two options to choose from.
• Quality assurance of 1500 hours continuous running.
• Front and back sides spray pattern on samples.

- More about Light Fastness Tester
- The Comparison of Water-cooled Light Fastness Tester and Air-cooled Light Fastness Tester
- 1. Different lamp installation positions.
- The lamp of the Water-cooled Light Fastness Tester is installed in the middle of the equipment in a vertical installation, and the turntable with the sample rotates around the lamp. So the distance between each sample to the lamp is equal, to ensure that each sample gets the same irradiation intensity irradiation, with good comparability. It requires cold water equipment and a pure water system and is therefore relatively expensive.
- 2. The Air-cooled Light Fastness Tester can be moved anywhere, anytime, the machine has casters. The Water-cooled type will be installed with a water tower or chiller, which is less convenient when moving it.
- 3. The Air-cooled Light Fastness Tester has much more noise and will dissipate heat into the room, but the water-cooled type will take the heat away through the water.
- 4. Regarding the Air-cooled Light Fastness Tester, the lamp luminosity will decay after a long time of use, and about the Water-cooled Light Fastness Tester, due to a long time over water cooling, if water quality is not good, the inner wall is easy to leave residues, resulting in poor lamp translucency effect. So water quality is very important.
Working principle
Expose the specimen of the textile under specified conditions to light from a xenon arc lamp and to water spray. Meanwhile, expose the eight dyed blue wool references to light. But we also need to protect it with a sheet of window glass from water spray. Lastly, assess the light fastness by comparing the change in color of the specimen with that of the references. If the instrument is to determine the wet photosensitive textiles, no need to expose the blue wool standard.
Test method notes
The test principle The textile specimens and eight blue wool standards are sprayed and exposed to the sun in the xenon tester following the specified conditions. At the same time, cover the eight blue wool standards with glass so as to prevent spraying on the fog, and then compare the specimen with the blue wool standards for the assessment of the color fastness. If the instrument is used to determine the wet photosensitive textiles, it is not necessary to expose the blue wool standard, and instead use the gray sample card to make a comparative assessment. Safety precautions Note: These security measures are only for reference. They only play an auxiliary role in the testing procedure. Therefore, there is no need to follow the steps completely. 1 Do not operate the test equipment without reading and understanding the manufacturer's instructions.
